Bethesda has just confirmed that it's rolled out update 1.8 for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on the PlayStation 3 platform, in order to prepare the game for the arrival of the Dragonborn expansion later today, February 12.
Skyrim delivered a sprawling RPG experience across the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms, but on the Sony console it encountered a variety of technical issues that were solved by Bethesda by releasing lots of patches and updates.
These problems also meant that owners of the game on the device needed to wait a much longer time before they got the different expansion released by Bethesda, while Xbox 360 and PC owners received them right on time.
Fortunately, those issues with the add-ons were finally solved by the developer and it revealed recently that all of the expansion will come out this month on the PS3.
Now, ahead of the launch of the first DLC, Dragonborn, the studio has confirmed that a new patch has been rolled out for Skyrim on the PS3, in the form of update 1.8.

Only a few bug fixes are included, but plenty of background content is also packed in because Bethesda wants to prevent any issues with Dragonborn or the next two DLCs, Hearthfire and Dawnguard. Check out the changelog below, via Bethblog.
- General memory and stability improvements- Fixed rare crash when using vampiric grip- Fixed issue where Arnleif and Sons Trading Company could become permanently locked- Fixed issue related to duplicate NPCs- Fixed rare issue where exterior door would not open properly.
